Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Artur Tagirov (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SDrive mobile application (the “App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary
SDrive is a driving and navigation aid that displays your location on a map, estimates current speed, shows posted speed limits, lets you search for places, plan routes, and view or contribute community-reported hazard markers. To do this, the App needs your precise location while it is in use, sends a small amount of device information to our backend so your device can be authenticated, and (optionally) sends anonymous usage analytics and crash reports so we can keep the App stable.
The App does not ask for your name, phone number, email address, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera. We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Hazard markers. If you place a marker on the map (for example, to flag a hazard), we send the marker’s latitude, longitude, type, and an optional short text note you choose to add, to our backend so other users can see it. Do not include personal information in the optional text note.
- Settings. Your in-app preferences (theme, units, sounds, etc.) are stored locally on your device.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Precise location data. When the App is in use, the operating system provides your latitude, longitude, speed and heading to the App. Location is used in real time to center the map, draw your route, compute speed, and look up nearby map data. Location is not stored on our servers as a personal history.
- Device and app information sent to our backend at registration: a stable per-install device identifier, manufacturer, brand, model, device name, OS version, carrier (if available), tablet flag, and the installed App version. This information is used to register the device and authenticate subsequent API calls.
- Authentication tokens. After registration, our backend issues a token (and, separately, a recovery key) that the App stores locally on your device.
- Network-level data. Like any app that makes network requests, our servers and the third-party services we call may automatically log standard request data such as IP address, timestamp, and user-agent for security and abuse prevention.
- Diagnostics & crash reports (optional, can be disabled). We use Sentry to collect crash reports and diagnostic events that help us fix bugs. Reports may include device model, OS version, app version, stack traces, and basic technical metadata.
- Analytics (optional, can be disabled). We use Firebase Analytics to count screen views and basic events so we can understand which features are used. Firebase may collect a Firebase installation ID and standard mobile analytics fields.
2.3 What we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or postal address.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, files, or calendar.
- We do not record audio or video. The App does not use the microphone or camera.
- We do not run advertising trackers and do not sell personal data.
3. How we use information
- To display your location on the map and follow your movement.
- To compute your speed and look up the posted speed limit nearby.
- To search for addresses and points of interest you query.
- To compute walking and driving routes between two points.
- To synchronize and display community hazard markers.
- To authenticate your device with our backend.
- To investigate crashes and improve stability and performance.
- To understand aggregate, anonymous usage of features.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
4. Sharing and third-party services
The App contacts the following services. Each service receives only the data needed to perform its function (typically: your current latitude and longitude, a search term, or a route start/end). Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public.
5. Device permissions
- Location (fine and coarse). Required to display your position on the map, compute speed, look up nearby speed limits, and route from your current position. Location is requested only while the App is in use; the App does not request background location.
- Internet. Required to talk to the map, search, routing, speed-limit, hazard, analytics, and crash-reporting services.
- Vibration. Used to provide a haptic cue alongside hazard warnings.
- Microphone (iOS only). Declared by the audio framework that plays hazard warning sounds. The App does not record audio and does not access the microphone.
6. Data retention
- Hazard markers and the device record associated with your device ID are retained on our backend for as long as the App is registered, and for a reasonable period afterwards for backup, abuse-prevention, and operational purposes.
- Settings, tokens, and cached data stored locally on your device are retained until you uninstall the App or clear its storage from system settings.
- Sentry crash reports are retained according to Sentry’s default retention period (typically up to 90 days).
- Firebase Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in our Firebase project (default: 14 months).
7. Your choices and rights
- Disable analytics or crash reporting. You can turn off Firebase Analytics and Sentry from the in-app Settings screen at any time.
- Revoke location. You can revoke location permission from your device’s system settings; the map and routing features will stop working until permission is restored.
- Reset or remove your data. Uninstalling the App removes data stored locally on your device. To request deletion of the device record and associated markers from our backend, contact us at the address below and include your device-generated recovery key (you can find it in the in-app Settings → About / Secret screen).
- EU/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) residents may have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, and data portability. You can exercise these rights by contacting us as described below. The legal bases on which we rely are: your consent (analytics and crash reports), performance of the service you requested (location, routing, search, marker sync), and our legitimate interests in keeping the App secure and reliable.
8. Children’s privacy
SDrive is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. Security
All network requests are made over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored using the platform’s standard local storage. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure; while we use commercially reasonable safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International data transfers
The third-party services listed in §4 may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. By using the App you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in such countries.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the App or on this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
